Sanofi cuts 229 jobs following $9.1bn acquisition

Just over a year after its multibillion-dollar acquisition of Blueprint Medicines, French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi is beginning to scale back the former biotech business. A total of 229 jobs will be cut and two sites in Cambridge will close.

The plans were disclosed in a WARN notice filed in Massachusetts and mark the first major publicly announced workforce reduction since Belén Garijo took over as Sanofi chief executive in May.
