The response rate was 74.0 percent versus 45.7 percent with standard treatment, and the risk of disease progression or death was reduced by 60 percent.

“The Phase III results from the CERVINO study support the scientific basis for etentamig and demonstrate the value of developing treatments that address both the underlying biology of multiple myeloma and the practical needs of patients and healthcare providers through a manageable safety profile, a convenient dosing schedule and the possibility of administering the treatment in an outpatient setting and other nearby care settings,” says Daejin Abidoye, therapeutic area head for oncology, solid tumors and hematology at Abbvie.

“The results strengthen our confidence in etentamig and our broader strategy in multiple myeloma, where we are developing complementary T-cell engagers, targeted small-molecule drugs and rational combination treatments to address different disease mechanisms and patient needs over time,” Abidoye continues.

Abbvie plans to discuss the results with global regulatory authorities.
