The risk of developing post-COVID after a COVID infection was reduced in vaccinated people, according to a new study from the University of Gothenburg.

The study includes approximately 590,000 adults who were followed up using registry data and who contracted COVID-19 between 27 December 2020 and 9 February 2022.

“The results support a strong association between vaccination against COVID-19 before first-time infection and a reduced risk of being diagnosed with post-COVID, with more doses providing better protection,” says Maria Bygdell, a researcher in internal medicine and clinical nutrition at the University of Gothenburg and one of the principal investigators behind the study, in a press release.
