The drug candidate Rhapsido (remibrutinib) belongs to the class of BTK inhibitors, a type of immunomodulatory therapy that targets B cells and microglia. They are used primarily in blood cancers but are now also being tested in autoimmune diseases.
In the current studies, the oral drug candidate was evaluated in relapsing multiple sclerosis. According to Novartis, the treatment significantly reduced the annual relapse rate compared with teriflunomide, and was also superior across all key secondary endpoints.
