The plan is to discontinue small-scale biologics manufacturing at its Kleinbasel site by the end of 2027. Production will instead be transferred to other parts of Novartis’s European manufacturing network.
At the same time, laboratories for activities including cell banking, analytical testing and technical development will be relocated to the company’s Basel campus. There, Novartis plans to establish a new centre for the technical development of biologic medicines.
