A new name for a broader outlook

Life science is, by its very nature, an international industry. Companies, research and people move across borders – and anyone covering the sector needs to do the same.

That is why, in mid-August, we decided to bring together Nordiske Medier’s editorial and commercial resources in life science, medtech, pharmaceuticals and biotech under one roof. Life Science Sweden and Denmark’s MedTechNews have already joined forces on the new platform, while Medtech Magazine will be fully integrated by the end of the year.

To reflect our shift from a country-by-country perspective to a more international outlook, we initially followed the naming convention used by several other Nordiske Medier publications, including Defence Nordic and Process Nordic.

But we have since reconsidered.

We do not want our name to tie us to a specific region. Today, our primary focus is on the Nordic countries, but in an industry profoundly shaped by developments elsewhere in Europe and in the US, looking beyond the region is essential. We already have subscribers in markets such as the Baltics – so why stop there?

We have also seen that the initial name change created some uncertainty about who was behind our journalism. That is something we want to avoid. Our purpose is not defined by our name, but by our mission: to provide independent, informed journalism on the businesses, innovations and decision-makers shaping the life science industry.

That has always been our focus. Now it is our name, too: Life Science Focus.
