Delivering drugs with small devices

For biologics, such as insulin, size is a problem, as they are often too large to be absorbed by the GI tract. Researchers in Denmark are hoping that they may have a solution to improve oral drug delivery – by utilizing micrometer-sized devices. These small devices are containers the size of a sugar grain that consist of biodegradable polymers. They are equipped with lids that make sure that they only open at the exact site where they are intended to.
